Most languages treat AI and compliance as things you add. Mohio treats them as native, compiler-enforced primitives. You write what you intend in plain language, and the compiler holds the line on how it runs. If an AI decision has no fallback, or a regulated field is mishandled, the build halts.
A small, readable syntax. A non-developer can read a line and understand the business intent in about three seconds.
AI reasoning is a first-class primitive. Every decision declares its confidence floor and a required fallback path.
Declare a sector and the compiler enforces its rules. Code that violates the baseline does not compile.
Intent lives on the page. The runtime owns the delivery. Removing it leaves nothing on the page but the developer's intent.
Why MOHIO™
I have spent years building software and helping other people build their businesses. The same problem kept surfacing: the moment AI entered a product, the reasoning and the rules got bolted on afterward, buried in libraries nobody could read and nobody could audit. The people accountable for a decision often could not see how it was made.
Mohio is my answer. The name is Māori for "to understand," and that is the whole point. In Mohio, AI reasoning and compliance are part of the language itself, enforced by the compiler. Every AI decision has to declare how confident it must be and what happens when it is not sure, or the program will not build. Declare the sector you work in and that sector's rules are enforced for you. You write what you intend in something close to plain English, and you can see exactly what the program will do.

I believe software that reasons should be legible and accountable by construction, not by good intentions alone. That is the mission, and it is why Particular exists.
